Baby Parakeets

Let your female parakeet sit on her eggs for 18 days or longer. Removing the eggs before the full incubation period of 18 days may result in her laying more eggs to replace them. If too many weeks go by and your parakeet is still sitting on the eggs take them out. Your parakeet may behave protectively around her nest and eggs and it can turn into a sweet tamed little terror. Don’t worry its not forever.

To make her stop laying eggs, make sure the parakeet only gets nine to ten hours of day light, or remove her nest or something that can be a nest. A female parakeet needs a lot of vitamins and calcium than usual, give her lots of cuttlebone and crushed hard boiled eggs. If your parakeet does not feed the chick, take the chick out and give it to another parakeet. If you don’t have another parakeet, feed the chick by yourself.
